A QUICK GUIDE TO ATHENS, GREECE


 Athens, Greece is known as the historical capital of Europe, and is very rich in history and culture. Not only is Athens rich in history but also has the yummiest food ever (honey puffs), great shopping and amazing nightlife as well. If you are ever in Greece, definitely stay a night or two in Athens and explore its beautiful landmarks and then head off to it's breathtaking Greek islands. 


WHERE  TO  S T A Y 

Anafiotika residence, Hideaway under the Acropolis Airbnb: Located in the historical neighbourhood in Athens. It is hidden in the small paths right under the Acropolis scared rock. You can enjoy the poetic view of the city dominated by Lycabettus hill from the patio in the front part of the house, a great way to enjoy your teas or coffees in the morning or evenings. 

COCO-MAT: Hotel Athens: is located in Central Athens, and is only a short walk away from the Presidential Mansion. The Athens Concert Hall, Syntagma Square and National and Kapodistrian University of Athens is near this hotel.

  • The local currently is the Euro 
  • The Metro is your new best friend, super easy to use. 
  • Tips are optional. 
  • Beware of the Metro pickpockets. 
  • Most people speak good english.

  • Acropolis of Athens
  • Parthenon 
  • Visit the Acropolis Museum 
  • Relax and enjoy the views of Syntagma Square 
  • Visit the most old historical neighbourhood - Plaka 
  • Temple of Olympian Zeus, Athens

WHERE  TO  E A T   IN  A T H E N S

  • Thanasis - is a Greek restaurant which is located in one of the allies leading to Monastiraki Square. This restaurant offers great Greek cuisine for a great price. 
  • Lukumades - Located within walking distance of Monastiraki Square and is the place to indulge in the famous Greek donuts (honey puffs). 
  • Takis Bakery - This little bakery is a short walk from the Acropolis and is one of the best bakeries in Athens. It has a huge range of breads, sweet and salty pastries, cakes and sandwiches. 
  • Little Kook - For people we enjoy really sweet things in exaggerated sizes. It has a range of cakes, crepes, drinks in exaggerated quirky sizes and waffles too.

  6. Athens, Greece looks so beautiful. I'd love to visit someday and step a foot at Temple of Olympian Zeus and eat local food. Thanks for sharing this! It made me inspired to work hard to book a trip there.
