A QUICK GUIDE TO THE GREEK ISLANDS


Greece has a total of 168 islands, which have been split into eight main island groups.  You could easily spend months exploring their amazing and historical islands which are located in the Lonian and Aegean seas. Not all Greek islands are famous for their breathtaking beaches and natural features but other islands have strong cultural traditions and an epic nightlife. There are so many well known places in the Greek Islands such as: Santorini, Rhodes Old town, Crete, Mykonos, Corfu and many more! 


WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE VISITING  G R E E K  I S L A N D S
  • The local currency is the Euro. 
  • Plan Ahead. Make sure you book in advance such as plane tickets, activities and accommodation. 
  • Always have cash on you. 
  • Greeks drive rather aggressively, especially in Athens.

    As a Greek who has visited the majority of the Greek islands I have to agree and disagree about the Greek drivers comment! Athenians are way better than Cretans! I dont know if you have ever visited Crete-I lived there briefly back in 2012- but they are driving a bit differently, let's say they follow their own rules. I can't claim the same about Athenians though...
    Perhaps you had a bad experience? So sorry if so!
